The conference will take place from 4 – 6 September 2014. The organisers, the HRI, are delighted to present a programme comprising 18 sessions and 54 speakers. Abstracts for all the papers being presented can now be viewed via the conference website.
The papers cover a wide ranges of topics including: advances in the creation of digital editions, the processing and analysis of text, visualisation, standardisation and the semantic web.
Laura Mandell, Director, Initiative for Digital Humanities, Media, and Culture and Professor of English at Texas A & M University will present a keynote on Visualizing Humanities Data, Big and Small: approaches to working with data sets ranging from 50 million pages to a single poem.
On day two, Fred Truyen, Associate Professor Faculty of Arts and Head of IT Services, Faculty of Arts, Campus Leuven will present “All Our Yesterdays”: Europeana and the Phenomenology of Photographic Experience through the Framing of Digitization.
The final keynote will be presented by Paul Arthur, Professor of Digital Humanities, School of Humanities and Communication Arts, University of Western Sydney, the subject of which is yet to be announced.
Other highlights include, three AHRC Digital Transformations Theme Roundtables chaired by Professor Andrew Prescott (King’s College London) and a Jisc-National Library of Wales plenary in which the audience can help shape future digital content priorities (with voting!), chaired by Professor Lorna Hughes (National Library of Wales).
